Everything You Need to Know About Attending the 2025 Austrian GP

From buying tickets to finding a place to stay, here’s what you need to know about going to the 2025 Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring

The Red Bull Ring – formerly known as both the Österreichring and the A-1 Ring – plays host to round 11 of the 2025 Formula 1 season as the sport rolls into the Styrian mountains. One of the best organized races on the calendar, the Austrian Grand Prix is also one of the most popular for trackside camping, largely due to it’s rural location some distance from the closest major city of Graz. After hosting F1’s Sprint format for the last three seasons, Austria loses out to the Belgian Grand Prix in 2025 and will not host an F1 sprint race.

2025 Austrian Grand Prix Tickets Selling Fast

Tickets for the Austrian Grand Prix normally go on sale almost 12 months in advance, and this year was no exception. With early-bird pricing on offer in the first phase of ticket sales, strong demand has seen many of the most popular ticket categories sell out quickly. The good news is that almost all grandstands, as well as General Admission, benefit from excellent trackside views at one of the F1 calendar’s most compact and picturesque circuits. We also recommend F1 Experiences Ticket Packages. 3-day Champions Club and Paddock Club Packages are now on sale for 2025. Click the buttons below to check availability and prices

Big Crowds Expected at the 2025 Austrian Grand Prix

Post-pandemic, attendance at the Austrian Grand Prix has been growing thanks to the addition of a number of new grandstands. The 2024 Austrian Grand Prix welcomed a crowd of 302,000 over three days, a similar number to the last two editions of the race. Attendance is expected to be in excess of 300,000 fans over three days again in 2025.

Where to Stay for the 2025 Austrian Grand Prix

Alongside Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, the Red Bull Ring is one of the few surviving European circuits that’s not close to a major city. The rural location of the circuit close to the town of Spielberg makes trackside camping a popular choice for the Red Bull Ring. The weather is generally a lot better than in Belgium, too. If you prefer your creature comforts, there’s a good selection of places to stay in the largest nearby city, Graz, which is about an hour’s motorway drive from the Red Bull Ring. Alternatively, you may get lucky finding accommodation in nearby smaller towns such as Knittelfeld, Zeltweg or Leoben.

How Much You Will Spend on a Trip to the Red Bull Ring

Despite rising ticket prices, the Austrian Grand Prix is still one of the cheaper races to attend on the current calendar, offering the tenth cheapest tickets overall in 2024. The Austrian Grand Prix remains great value for money, however, when compared to other European venues on the calendar.

General Admission tickets in Austria still rank amongst the cheapest of the season, despite increasing to €150 for 3-day tickets in 2025 . Tickets are also relatively inexpensive for local residents, costing just over 10% of the average monthly income – the seventh most affordable of the year in 2024.

We estimate that the average fan will spend €995 ($1,084 USD) on a trip to the 2025 Austrian Grand Prix, including grandstand seats, accommodation and spending money. Budget Planner has the full breakdown on what you can expect to spend on a trip to the Red Bull Ring in 2025

Getting to the Red Bull Ring

If you’re not camping at the circuit, the area has a good transport network – though the track can be more tricky to get to than some of the others on the calendar. If you are travelling by car, the Red Bull Ring offers free parking. You can find more details about this, plus the alternate public transport on offer by reading Getting Around.

Racing in the Mountains

The Red Bull Ring has been Austria’s sole Formula 1 venue since 1970 and will continue to host the Austrian Grand Prix until 2027 under a new deal signed with Formula 1 in 2023. There’s always a nostalgic spark at the Spielberg track. Surrounded by mountains, the area around the circuit is particularly picturesque at this time of year.

If you have some time to spare during your trip, hiking in the mountains is highly recommended – though there are plenty of more relaxing options on offer! We’ve rounded up the best places to see and things to do in Graz and the wider Styria region during your visit to the 2025 Austrian Grand Prix in Off-Track Activities.

Packed Support Schedule at the 2025 Austrian Grand Prix

The Red Bull Ring offers one of the best trackside experiences of the season. The event is well organised, and the support race schedule for the race weekend is usually packed. Formula 1’s main feeder series Formula 2 & Formula 3 have already been confirmed to race at the 2025 Austrian Grand Prix, and they are expected to be joined by the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup

Another popular on-track activity at the Red Bull Ring is the Legends Parade, where legendary drivers are paired with historic cars. In 2024, the parade celebrated former winners of the Austrian Grand Prix and their race-winning machinery. Taking part were Emerson Fittipaldi, Johnny Herbert, David Coulthard and Gerhard Berger. Details of next year’s Legends Parade have not yet been announced.

You can find all the vital information about watching the race, including on-track session times, in Trackside.

  1. I’ve got tickets for the Austrian GP, Start Finish line section, row 2. Do you know if this is 2nd from the top? Or 2nd from the bottom of the grandstand. I can’t find any seating charts online. Thanks.

  2. Hi!

Does row 5 on Redbull J grandstand consider to be ok? It’s my first F1 race and want to have a good experience..

    Thank you!

    1. Hi, it’s normally better to be higher up in this grandstand, but you should still have a good view! Remember that this grandstand is uncovered. So it can be hot in the sun and there’s also a chance of rain. Be prepared for this!

  3. Hi,
first time going to F1 race. Bought General admission tickets but only for Sunday so I cant really try spots good for watching race.
How early should I come to the track if I want a good spot and where do you think is the best view in General admission area. I thought about T3, but it looks like that there are now grandstands.
Thank you, this site really helped me a lot!

    1. Hi, gates open at 8am and I would be aiming to get there as early as possible. I think T3 is a good place to watch. Yes there are grandstands here, but these are set back from the track and you can still stand in front to get a good view of the corner.

  4. Do you know what are covid regulations at the track? Do we need negative test/covid vaccination certification?

  5. hello do you know how and where it is possible for general admission holders to walk around the track. for example from the fan zone to the back straight, and i have also heard you can watch at turn 8 on general admission?
    your answer is much appreciated

    1. Yes this should be possible. The only area off limits will be the whole West side of the circuit between Turns 1 and 3. You can get a shuttle from the Fanzone (outside of Turn 1) up to Turn 3. You should be able to walk around the eastern side of the circuit from GA.

  6. Visiting from Australia and extremely excited! We’re in T9, row 28, do you have any insight on this section – shade, sight of track etc.? Will also be driving, is it simple to park or should we expect large delays and get there as early as we can with so many people?

    1. You’ve come a long way, hope it’s a fantastic weekend. I love the Red Bull Ring. Sorry, I don’t have particular insights on your grandstand view. For parking, you should get there as early as you can as you will get a better spot and theoretically will also be able to leave more quickly. You shouldn’t expect delays really when arriving as the circuit is close to the motorway. You will be guided to the closest carpark according to your arrival route. More information is here.

  7. Hi we’re going for the first time this year. I’ve seen online people saying that because we only have general admission tickets we won’t be able to go and stand close to the Red Bull statue. my partner and I are insanely huge Red Bull fans and I was hoping to propose to her at the statue.

  8. 3 day General Admissions tickets with the family (insanely huge F1 fan 13 years, and 11 year old budding fan + me and husband, needless to say, insane fans): are we eligible for the pit lane walk through? When is it? We are camping on site in the Camping Türkis, how do we get to the pit lane the easiest? We also have a day pass for Saturday from the F3 team Jenzer, where do we pick them up, and what access do we get with that.

    1. The pit lane walk is on Thursday afternoon, more info here. You need a separate ticket. These are sold out but you can send us an email if you want some – we have a few left for 50 EUR. As for the day pass from the F3 team, you will need to contact them directly to find out more. I also don’t know what access you will get with that – probably you can enter the support paddock
