Formula 1 returns to Imola for the 31st race at the legendary Italian circuit. Imola re-joined the Formula 1 calendar amid the coronavirus pandemic in 2020. Having previously hosted both the Italian and San Marino Grands Prix, the circuit’s race is now titled the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix – or the Formula 1 Gran Premio Del Made In Italy E Dell’Emilia Romagna, to give its full official title.

40km to the east of Bologna, the Imola circuit – or Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari – is located in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. The picturesque region was in the news last year, having suffered flooding and landslides caused by torrential rain which claimed the lives of 15 and left thousands homeless. The flooding last year led to the 2023 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix being cancelled as water levels rose to dangerously high levels around the track.

Thankfully, the Imola race is set to go ahead without interruption this year. In 2022 – the last race weekend to take place at the track – F1 welcomed fans back to Imola for the first time since the 2006 San Marino Grand Prix. The two previous races had been held behind closed doors as the result of pandemic-related restrictions. Read on for everything you need to know ahead of visiting Imola for the 2024 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.

  1. Hey
Do you know if the token system will take place in terms of food and drink this year? And if yes how it would look like/work as I’ve never experienced anything like that on any previous F1 races I’ve attended
    Thanks a lot

    1. Probably yes. I think it worked a lot better at Imola than it did at Monza. Recommended to buy your tokens early, when you arrive, as less likely to be queues. Expect to pay around 8 EUR for a beer, around 12 EUR for a sandwich/burger
