The very first World Championship Formula 1 race was held at Silverstone in 1950 and now, over 1,100 races later, the former airfield plays host to the 12th round of the 2025 season. With an ever-growing attendance figure, plenty of changes have been made for fans at Silverstone in recent years to improve the trackside experience, including improved spectator areas, an enlarged concert zone and a Thursday night launch event.
Attendance figures at Silverstone continue to grow year-on-year, with new grandstand and hospitality capacity having been added and the concert area expanded. The 2024 British Grand Prix attracted 480,000 fans over four days, including a record race-day attendance of 164,000 who saw Lewis Hamilton record an emotional and hugely popular 9th win at Silverstone. It was the first victory for Hamilton since the closing stages of the controversial 2021 F1 season.

2025 British Grand Prix Tickets On Sale Now
Tickets for next year’s race at Silverstone are now on sale. Tickets for the most popular grandstands at the British Grand Prix – namely the Hamilton Straight and Club Corner grandstands, close to the start/finish line and the podium – are always in high demand and sell out quickly. Silverstone has a good selection of viewing areas at some of the sport’s most iconic corners, including the Maggotts and Becketts complex, plus the high speed Stowe and Copse corner. The circuit has controversially used dynamic pricing during recent ticket launches, driving up prices for those who don’t manage to snap up tickets as quickly as others. Despite rising prices, tickets have all sold out for the past few editions of the British Grand Prix.

Where to Stay & Getting to Silverstone
Silverstone is one of the few remaining rural circuits on the 2025 F1 calendar, making trackside camping hugely popular at the British Grand Prix. If you prefer the creature comforts of a hotel, as well as restaurants and nightlife, the nearby city Milton Keynes is recommended. Northampton is also home to several international chain hotels. Off-Track Activities
Half in Northamptonshire and half in Buckinghamshire, the Silverstone circuit is situated in the heart of the British countryside; an area known as “motorsport valley”. Many of the Formula 1 teams’ factories are not too far from the circuit, and may be worth as part of your British Grand Prix holiday. The British Grand Prix also falls during the start of the British holiday, sports and festival season. Events worth considering also attending include the tennis championships on grass at Wimbledon (June 30-July 13, 2025) and the hugely popular ‘motorsport garden party,’ the Goodwood Festival of Speed (one week after the British Grand Prix on July 10-13, 2025). How Much Will I Spend at the 2025 British Grand Prix?
The British Grand Prix is one of the more expensive to attend over the season. Silverstone’s controversial use of dynamic pricing in recent years has seen ticket prices soar for those who were unable to secure their tickets early. Although the dynamic pricing model makes it more difficult to calculate, we rank British Grand Prix tickets as the fifth most expensive of the 24 races on the 2024 Formula 1 calendar.
General Admission tickets are the second-most expensive of the year, behind only the Las Vegas Grand Prix, though those who secured access early will have paid a lot less, with prices more comparative to those of the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort. Since 2023, roving Friday grandstand access is no longer included in the General Admission ticket offer.
We estimate that the average fan will spend just over £1,000 on a trip to the 2024 British Grand Prix (TBC for 2025.) That price includes a 3-day grandstand ticket, hotel accommodation and daily spending money. Formula 2, Formula 3 Support Categories
Although one of the more expensive races to attend, you could argue that the British Grand Prix is one of the best value for money F1 events on the current calendar, thanks to its abundance of support races and high profile nightly concerts. There’s not just six hours of Formula 1 cars on track to look forward to at the British Grand Prix. With at least three support series also appearing on the schedule in recent years at Silverstone, the track will rarely fall silent over the race weekend! It’s already confirmed that Formula 1’s feeder series, Formula 2 & Formula 3, will be racing at the 2025 British Grand Prix. Additional support categories and on-track displays will be announced closer to race weekend.
Be aware that, in a change to previous years, only fans in the Vale area of track were able to go onto the track for the podium celebrations in 2024. Fans in other parts of the track were able to walk on the circuit, with gates opening around an hour after the race. Off Track Entertainment
It’s worth sticking around a little longer after the on-track action ends each day. There’s concerts on the Main Stage and activities in the Fan Zone to soak up over the weekend at the 2025 British Grand Prix. The concert zone was expanded in 2023 to allow room for up to 40,000 fans, while the Fan Zone moved to a new location over a footbridge behind the main stage area. The 2024 British Grand Prix featured headline concerts on each night of the weekend. Stormzy performed on Friday night, Pete Tong headlined on Saturday and Rudimental closed out the weekend after Sunday’s Grand Prix. In addition, Silverstone has also began hosting an official launch event on Thursday evening. The event was headlined by Kings Of Leon in 2024, with support from Self Esteem. Since 2023, access to the track on Thursday requires a separate ticket and is not included for 3-day ticket holders.
It’s expected that Formula 1 drivers will be making appearances on the main stage across the weekend in the ever-popular Fan Forum. Also scheduled are a number of guest appearances by popular F1 content creators and podcasters, with the full entertainment line-up available closer to race weekend on the Silverstone website. As always, the iconic Red Arrows take to the skies above Silverstone ahead of the race on Sunday.
