The 2024 Formula 1 calendar has been revealed. Next season will feature 24 races, including three Grands Prix which will take place on a Saturday.
Formula 1 has unveiled its 2024 calendar. The record-breaking 24-race season begins with the Bahrain Grand Prix on March 2 and ends with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on December 8. The 2024 Formula 1 calendar includes three races which will take place on a Saturday, plus a new ‘Fall Break’ in September and October.
A number of races have moved position on the 2024 calendar in a bid to create more environmentally-friendly travel routes and limit Formula 1’s impact on the environment. The sport is hoping to reach ‘net zero’ status by 2030.

Speaking about the new calendar, Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali said:
“I am delighted to announce the 2024 calendar with 24 races that will deliver an exciting season for our fans around the world. There is huge interest and continued demand for Formula 1, and I believe this calendar strikes the right balance between traditional races and new and existing venues. I want to thank all of the promoters and partners for their support and effort to achieve this great schedule. Our journey to a more sustainable calendar will continue in the coming years as we further streamline operations as part of our Net Zero 2030 commitment. We have plenty of racing to look forward to in 2023, including the inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix, and our fans can look forward to more excitement next season.”
Major changes to 2024 Formula 1 calendar
There are a number of changes to the 2024 Formula 1 calendar compared to its 2023 counterpart. Notably, the Japanese Grand Prix moves from a September date to April, while the Azerbaijan Grand Prix moves from April to September.
Formula 1 has also implemented an official ‘Fall Break’ for the first time. The additional four week break falls between the Singapore Grand Prix on September 22 and the United States Grand Prix on October 20. The four week traditional Summer Break remains in place between the Belgian Grand Prix and the Dutch Grand Prix from July 28 to August 25.
There are no new events on the 2024 schedule but the Chinese Grand Prix is set to make a return after a five-year absence, having last taken place in 2019.
The Belgian Grand Prix remains on the calendar for another year, despite fears that the 2023 race would be the last held at Spa. In 2022, the event signed a single-year deal to remain on the calendar in 2023. Details of the new contract have not yet been announced by Formula 1 or Circuit de Spa-Francorhamps.
The 2024 Formula 1 calendar features three sets of triple header events. The Spanish, Austrian and British Grands Prix take place on consecutive weekends, while the final six races of the year take place in the space of seven weeks.
Three Saturday races on 2024 Formula 1 calendar
For the first time since 1982, the first race of the 2024 Formula 1 season will take place on a Saturday. The first two races of the year – in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia – will both take place on Saturdays in early March. The decision to move these races to Saturday has been taken to accommodate Ramadan.
In addition, the new Las Vegas Grand Prix will once again take place on a Saturday in 2024. The inaugural race on the Las Vegas Strip is set to be held in November 2023. It will be the first season since 1982 in which three races have taken place on a Saturday.
