For the second year in a row, the Belgian Grand Prix attracted a record weekend attendance. 380,000 passed through the circuit gates over the 2023 Belgian Grand Prix, an increase of 20,000 on last year’s figure.

The 2023 Belgian Grand Prix is the third best-attended race weekend of the season so far. Ahead of the Spa race are the 2023 British Grand Prix – which had a record attendance of 480,000, the second biggest on record for an F1 event – and the 2023 Australian Grand Prix, which attracted over 440,000 fans.

Last year, the Belgian Grand Prix ended the season as the fifth best attended race of the year. In addition to the British and Australian Grands Prix, the United States Grand Prix and the Mexico City Grand Prix had higher attendances than the Spa race. It’s likely to be a similar story in 2023.

Earlier this month, when Formula 1 announced its 2024 calendar, it was confirmed that the Belgian Grand Prix would remain on the schedule for another year. The news came despite fears that Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps would lose its position on the schedule after signing a single-year contract extension in 2022.

Details of the latest contract which secured Spa’s place on the 2024 calendar are not publicly available, though it has been suggested that it is another short-term, single-year deal.

Rain hits 2023 Belgian Grand Prix weekend

As has become expected in recent years, there was plenty of rainfall over the 2023 Belgian Grand Prix weekend. The start of Friday’s qualifying session was delayed due to the weather conditions, as were both of Saturday’s Sprint sessions – the Sprint Shootout and the Sprint race itself. On Sunday, the weather remained mostly dry for the Grand Prix, aside from a few drops of rain halfway through the race.

While Charles Leclerc started from pole position, Max Verstappen won the Belgian Grand Prix for a third season in a row. He became only the second driver in F1 history to secure eight consecutive victories as Red Bull continued their winning streak.

2024 Belgian Grand Prix tickets now on sale

Before the chequered flag fell on the 2023 Belgian Grand Prix, tickets for the 2024 Spa race were already available. Next year’s Belgian Grand Prix will take place on July 26-28, once again occupying the final race slot before the summer break.

A selection of Gold, Silver and Bronze tickets are currently available in our ticket shop, including tickets in the highly sought after Gold 1 grandstand which overlooks the main straight and the pit lane. The Gold 3 grandstand, overlooking the famous Eau Rouge, is also recommended.
