Formula 1 will be back at Shanghai International Circuit in March 2025 for the 2025 Chinese Grand Prix. Tickets for the race are now on sale.
Having been on the F1 calendar since 2004, the Chinese Grand Prix returned in front of a crowd of almost 200,000 in 2024 following a five-year absence. In 2024, Zhou Guanyu became the first Chinese Formula 1 driver to compete in his home race. Having raced with Sauber since 2022, Zhou will not be on the grid in 2025 – but demand for tickets for the 2025 Chinese Grand Prix is still high.
In 2025, the Chinese Grand Prix will be the second race of the season, taking place just one week after the first race in Melbourne, Australia. The weekend will utilise F1’s Sprint format and will be the first Sprint weekend of the year. 2025 is the second year in succession that China will host the first Sprint of the year.
Last year, wet weather in Sprint qualifying led to a jumbled grid. Though Lando Norris, Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso lined up in the top three on the grid, it was Max Verstappen who took the win in the Saturday race. Verstappen was also front of the pack at the chequered flag in Sunday’s Grand Prix.
Earlier this month, organisers of the Chinese Grand Prix signed a new contract which will see the event remain on the calendar until at least 2030.
