COTA has announced music icons Sting and Eminem will be the headline performers trackside at the 2024 United States Grand Prix, which is set to take place on October 18-20.
Circuit of The Americas, host of Formula 1’s United States Grand Prix since 2012, has announced the musical headliners for the 2024 race weekend. In previous years, COTA has attracted the likes of Taylor Swift, The Killers, Queen, Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder and Britney Spears. This year’s headline performances come from music icons Sting and Eminem, who’ll perform on Friday October 18 and Saturday October 19 respectively.
With Formula 1’s popularity at an all-time high in America, the United States Grand Prix has become one of the best-attended races in recent years. Last year’s weekend attendance figure was 432,000 – slightly down on the previous season. It was the third best-attended F1 event of the year, behind only the British and Australian Grands Prix.
Headline performances at the 2024 United States Grand Prix take place on the Germania Insurance Super Stage, located between Turns 10 and 11. The main performances are complemented by a range of other acts on smaller stages around the circuit throughout the weekend. All 2024 United States Grand Prix ticket holders receive free entry to the concerts, while upgrades offering access closer to the stage are expected to be available at a later date.
Sting to Headline Friday Night
After rising to fame as the frontman of new wave band The Police – with acclaimed hits Every Breath You Take and Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic – Sting launched a solo career in 1985 which has spawned award-winning songs like Fields Of Gold, Englishman In New York and Shape Of My Heart.
Expect to hear hits from The Police and Sting’s back catalogue as part of his performance at the 2024 United States Grand Prix on Friday October 18.
Eminem Performing After Qualifying
American rapper Eminem will be headlining the Germania Insurance Super Stage after the on-track action on Saturday October 19 at the 2024 United States Grand Prix.
Often credited with popularising hip hop in Middle America, the Lose Yourself hitmaker, will bring his biggest hits – including My Name Is, Stan and The Real Slim Shady – for a special performance in Austin, Texas in October.
Eminem has previously performed at Formula 1 race weekends, having taken to the stage as part of the F1 Rocks concerts at the 2010 Brazilian Grand Prix and headlined at the 2012 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
COTA Offers to Buy Back Tickets Ahead of Announcement
In mid-April, it was reported that United States Grand Prix organisers were offering fans who purchased early bird tickets the chance to sell back their tickets at a profit.
According to COTA chairman Bobby Epstein, over 10,000 three-day General Admission tickets were sold at the early bird offer price of $299. The circuit was seeking to buy back tickets at a price of $350, so that they could re-sell them at a higher price once the musical performers had been announced.
The plan to buy back tickets was put in place because, Epstein says, organisers “know those tickets will be worth well more than they paid” following the announcement – though he admitted: “I don’t think many people will take us up on it”.
