The FIA and Formula 1 have confirmed race start times for all 24 Grand Prix weekends in the 2025 F1 season.
The session times for all 24 rounds of the 2025 Formula 1 season have been confirmed by the FIA. There are only minor changes at a handful of races compared to the 2024 schedule, with the most notable change being that the schedule at the 2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix has been brought forward by two hours compared to its 2024 counterpart.
In 2024, 18 rounds will use the ‘classic’ timetable, while six races will run to the ‘Sprint’ format. On a regular Grand Prix weekend, there are two Friday practice sessions, a third practice session and qualifying on Saturday and the Grand Prix itself on Sunday. After three Saturday Grands Prix featuring on the calendar last year, the 2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix is the only race weekend which will run on a Thursday to Saturday schedule this year.

Why is the Las Vegas Grand Prix Taking Place Earlier?
Having started at 10pm local time for its first two seasons on the calendar, the Las Vegas Grand Prix schedule has been brought forward by two hours compared to previous years.
Last year, session times for the 2024 Las Vegas Grand Prix were confirmed at a later date than the other 23 races on the calendar. The race ultimately started at the same time as in 2023 but the practice and qualifying sessions were two hours earlier than the previous year. In 2025, everything moves another two hours earlier – meaning that track action begins at 4:30pm local time on both Thursday and Friday.
In a statement to the media, race organisers said that the adjustment had been made “based on feedback, insights and experience from the first two races, expanding opportunities for fans to explore the destination and continuing to engage with more fans across the US”.
The Las Vegas Grand Prix kicks off the final triple header of the season in late November. The run of races has proven to be particularly challenging for team members, who were unhappy with the demands of changing time zones and jet-lag complications in the closing stages of the year.
Elsewhere, there are only minor changes to the season schedule. Friday’s sessions at the 2025 Azerbaijan Grand Prix take place one hour earlier than in 2024, while the Austrian and Belgian race weekend schedules differ from last year as a result of changes to the Sprint calendar.
Sprint Format Unchanged For 2025
Following multiple changes to the format since it was first introduced in 2021, the Sprint format stays the same as in 2024. On Fridays, the sole practice session of the weekend will be followed by Sprint Qualifying, which determines the grid for the shorter Saturday race. The Sprint race is then F1’s first on-track action on Saturday and is followed four hours later by Grand Prix Qualifying, which sets the grid for Sunday’s main race.
For the third year in a row, there will be six Sprint rounds on the 2025 calendar. The Sprint calendar was confirmed in July 2024, with the six races set to take place in China, Miami, Belgium, Austin, Sao Paulo and Qatar. The only change from last year is that Belgium replaces Austria. Belgium hosts its first Sprint since 2023, while the Austrian Grand Prix will not follow the Sprint format for the first time since 2021.
