Weekend attendance reached 269,072 at the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix, with year-on-year attendance increasing by just under 5,000. Event organisers declared that the race was a sell-out event.
On track, Lando Norris dominated the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix weekend, leading every lap of the race from pole position. In doing so, he cut Max Verstappen’s championship lead to 52 points. While Verstappen finished as runner-up, a third place finish for Oscar Piastri saw McLaren extend their lead in the Constructors’ Championship.
As always at the Singapore Grand Prix, the 2024 edition saw another line-up of international music stars to complement the on-track action. Among the line-up were American bands OneRepublic and Thirty Seconds To Mars, plus Lenny Kravitz, who closed proceedings with the headline concert after Sunday’s race.
Other performers included Irish band The Corrs, who presented Lando Norris with the Pirelli Pole Position Award after qualifying on Saturday, and Kylie Minogue, who waved the chequered flag at the end of Sunday’s Grand Prix.
Strong Attendances Continue at 2024 Singapore Grand Prix
The Singapore Grand Prix, which celebrated its 15th edition in 2024, was Formula 1’s first ever night race when it joined the calendar in 2008. The event has always been well-attended, with weekend attendances rarely dipping below 250,000.
The 2022 Singapore Grand Prix set a new record for the best-attended Marina Bay race, with the weekend figure exceeding 300,000 for the first time since the inaugural event. Construction work saw the track reconfigured for 2023, with the removal of the Bay Grandstand – which held capacity for around 27,000 fans across the weekend – capping maximum attendance at a lower level than the 2022 record.
The 2024 Singapore Grand Prix currently ranks as the 11th best-attended race of the 2024 season. In 2023, the race ended the season as the 15th best-attended race weekend of the year. The United States, Mexico City, Las Vegas and Sao Paulo Grands Prix – all of which are yet to come in 2024 – all had higher attendances than the Singapore race last year.
Six Races Left in 2024
With the title fight hotting up, there are six races remaining in the 2024 season. A new ‘fall break’ has been introduced for 2024, meaning that the next race will be the United States Grand Prix on October 20. It is the first of three races on successive weekends, with the Mexico City and Sao Paulo races following on the next two weekends.
After a weekend off, the second running of the Las Vegas Grand Prix kicks off the final triple header of the year, with the Qatar and Abu Dhabi Grands Prix set to close out the 2024 season in style.
The title will be decided across six Grands Prix and three Sprint races in the space of just seven weeks. Should McLaren’s form continue, you can expect tickets for the final races of the year to be in high demand.
Check ticket availability for the remaining races on the 2024 Formula 1 calendar.
