2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix Opening Ceremony Details Unveiled

Race organisers have announced details of the official 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix Opening Ceremony taking place ahead of the race on Wednesday November 15.

With the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix now less than a week away, race organisers have announced details of the event’s official Opening Ceremony, which will take place on the starting grid at the Las Vegas Strip Circuit on Wednesday November 15 from 19:30.

The Opening Ceremony will take place in front of an anticipated crowd of 30,000, who’ll fill the grandstands and hospitality areas around the Las Vegas Strip Circuit’s main straight. Opening Ceremonies have taken place at other Formula 1 races – another American race, the Miami Grand Prix, being a notable example – but perhaps not on the scale of what is planned at the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix.

Access to the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix Opening Ceremony is included for 4-day ticket holders and further tickets for the Wednesday night event can be purchased separately to tickets for the Grand Prix itself. Single day grandstand tickets, in the East Harmon Grandstand, for the Opening Ceremony are priced at $165 USD in our Las Vegas Grand Prix ticket shop.

The 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix Opening Ceremony may be the hottest ticket in town in the lead up to the race weekend, but there are plenty of other events taking place across the city which are well worth checking out. What Will be Happening at the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix Opening Ceremony?

The 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix Opening Ceremony will be a “first-of-its kind” event. After opening with an immersive display celebrating the sport’s arrival into the city – featuring lights, lasers, fireworks and even a drone show – performances by legendary musical acts will celebrate Las Vegas’ history. The music acts will perform atop seven mobile LED stages.

In addition to the musical acts (listed below), there’ll be dancers and special performances from legendary Las Vegas shows such as Cirque du Soleil and Blue Man Group. It’s also expected that the ribbon-cutting at Formula 1’s new purpose-built Pit Building, which is adjacent to the main straight, will take place as part of the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix Opening Ceremony.

All 20 current Formula 1 drivers will be present at the event and they – and the team principals – will be introduced onto the starting grid as part of the Opening Ceremony.

Steve Hill, President, and CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, which is the presenting partner of the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix Opening Ceremony, said:

As the Sports and Entertainment Capital of the World, it is only fitting that we kick off the inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix with an incredible lineup of world-renowned music and athletic talent. We are proud to partner with Formula 1 to give the fans in the audience and viewers around the world an unforgettable start to a truly momentous weekend in Las Vegas.”

Who Are the Music Acts Performing at the Opening Ceremony?

Race organisers have already announced a selection of artists – including Major Lazer and Mark Ronson – who’ll be performing as part of the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix weekend. Nile Rodgers and Kylie Minogue have also been added to the weekend line-up.

Now, even more musical acts – including some legendary names – will be performing at the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix Opening Ceremony. American country legend Keith Urban is on the line-up, as are Don’t Stop Believin’ hit-makers Journey and top DJ and music producer Steve Aoki. J Balvin – who’ll be headlining race night at the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix – is also on the bill for the Opening Ceremony, as are Swedish House Mafia, Thirty Seconds To Mars, will.i.am, Andra Day and Bishop Briggs. Event organisers say more acts are yet to be announced.

UPDATE: On November 6, Las Vegas Grand Prix organisers confirmed John Legend and DJ Tiësto will also be performing at the Opening Ceremony. On November 13, race organisers added Kylie Minogue to the Opening Ceremony line-up.

The Wynn Grid Club, Paddock Club, Skybox and Heineken Silver Main Grandstands are where you’ll be able to watch all the Opening Ceremony action from. For those not in Las Vegas, the Opening Ceremony will be broadcast live across America on ESPN2 and streamed internationally via Formula 1’s YouTube channel.
