Race organisers at Lusail Circuit have announced the three headline musical acts for the 2023 Qatar Grand Prix. Amr Diab, Alesso and Bruno Mars will take to the stage across the race weekend.
UPDATE: On the day of his performance, Lusail Circuit confirmed that Bruno Mars would not be performing as planned at the 2023 Qatar Grand Prix. Instead, DJ Snake will play the post race concert.
With just a few weeks left until the 2023 Qatar Grand Prix on October 6-8, Lusail Circuit has announced the three headline performers who’ll be entertaining the crowds over the race weekend. Egyptian artist Amr Diab will perform after Qualifying on Friday, Swedish DJ Alesso will take to the stage after Saturday’s Sprint and global superstar Bruno Mars will perform after the Qatar Grand Prix on Sunday.
2023 marks Formula 1’s second visit to Qatar, with the Qatar Grand Prix having made its debut on the calendar at Lusail Circuit in 2021. Major renovations at the circuit ahead of the second running of the event means that up to 50,000 fans will be able to attend each day of racing action.
In 2021, a selection of local artists performed over the Qatar Grand Prix weekend. The performances took place in the Fanzone, which was located behind the Main Grandstand. It’s yet to be announced where the concerts will take place this year, though the stage area will likely be expanded compared to two years ago.
Access to the concerts is free to all 2023 Qatar Grand Prix ticket holders. 3-day ticket holders have access to all three concerts, while single day ticket holders will have access to the concert taking place on the day of their ticket. Exact timings for the concerts are yet to be announced.
Amr Diab Performing After Friday Qualifying
With the 2023 Qatar Grand Prix playing host to Formula 1’s fourth Sprint event of the season, Friday will be an important day on track. After just one hour of practice, Friday evening will see the 20 drivers partake in qualifying, setting their grid positions for Sunday’s Grand Prix.
When the on-track action concludes, Egyptian singer Amr Diab will perform on stage. Known as the “father of Mediterranean music”, Amr Diab’s 30-year music career has seen him recognised as the best-selling Middle Eastern artist, winning a myriad of awards and selling millions of records.
Alesso on Stage After Saturday’s Sprint
It’s set to be a thrilling day on track on Saturday at the 2023 Qatar Grand Prix. After the drivers have competed in the 45-minute Sprint Shootout to determine the grid for the evening’s Sprint race, all attention turns to the Sprint itself. The 100km race will be your first slice of Formula 1 racing action for the weekend and is sure to whet the appetite for Sunday’s Grand Prix!
Alesso will provide the tunes off-track soon after the Sprint race is finished. One of Sweden’s most successful DJs, Alesso is known for songs such as Heroes (We Could Be) – with Tove Lo – and Under Control – with Calvin Harris and Hurts. This won’t be Alesso’s first performance at a Formula 1 race weekend, having previously played at the 2022 Canadian Grand Prix.
Bruno Mars Headlines 2023 Qatar Grand Prix Weekend
Bruno Mars will be closing out 2023 Qatar Grand Prix weekend with an electric performance for racegoers after Sunday’s action concludes. One of the best-selling artists of all time, selling close to 100 million singles in the United States alone, Mars will be bringing his collection of hits – including Just The Way You Are, Grenade and Uptown Funk – to Lusail Circuit on October 8.
Like Alesso, Bruno Mars is also no stranger to performing for a Formula 1 crowd. He previously took to the stage in front of race fans at Circuit of The Americas over the 2018 United States Grand Prix weekend.
