Hungaroring: Access & Orientation

  • How to get to the Circuit: Getting There & Around.
  • Entry Gates: The circuit gates open at 07:30 on Friday, Saturday & Sunday at the Hungarian Grand Prix (TBC for 2024). Six gates provide access to the circuit.
  • Hungaroring Parking: Free spaces are offered to fans at three large carparks outside of the circuit. If you are driving, you’ll need to be patient at peak times (especially on race day), as the roads near the circuit get easily congested.
  • Allowed Items: You are allowed to bring in a maximum of 0.5 litres of water/liquid per person in a plastic or metal container (including alcohol), as well as food for personal consumption (equivalent to three sandwiches). Refill stations for drinking water are located around the circuit. You are also allowed to bring in baby strollers/prams. Small umbrellas are also allowed, but cannot be used in the grandstands (take a rain poncho or rain jacket instead).
  • Prohibited Items: You cannot bring any glass into the circuit. Camping/folding chairs are not allowed. Other prohibited items include drones, bicycles, cooler bags, backpack exceeding 20kgs, non-collapsible umbrellas or parasols. Check points 9 & 10 under Terms and Conditions.

Thursday Pit Lane Walk & High Speed Test

  • Tickets, priced at 25 EUR, sold out quickly for Thursday’s high speed test and pit lane walk at the 2023 Hungarian Grand Prix. Details have not yet been announced for 2024; tickets should go on sale around 4-8 weeks before race weekend.
  • The pit lane walk, which used to be open and free to all 3-day ticket holders, now requires the purchase of a separate ticket.
  • You will be able to enter the circuit from 2pm to watch the high speed test of the medical and safety cars from the Super Gold grandstand. The pit lane walk will follow afterwards. Exact times have not been stated, but the pit lane walk is likely to be from about 4-6pm.
  • You can only enter the track for these activities on Thursday when in possession of the Thursday ticket + your 3-day race ticket.
  • To attend Thursday’s high-speed test and pit lane walk, you will need to present your Thursday ticket together with your weekend tickets in the parking area next to the Main Gate at the Hungaroring. You will receive a wristband and then be able to enter the circuit via Gate 8. Check the map.

Hungaroring Fanzone

The original Fanzone at the Hungaroring is located behind the Super Gold grandstand on the pit straight, while a newer Fanzone (with stage for appearances) is located behind the Silver 5 & 6 grandstands near Turn 12. In the Fanzones, you’ll find a good selection of food and drink vendors, plus merchandise shops and static/interactive F1 displays. The schedule for appearances and performances on the main stage at the 2023 Hungarian Grand Prix is pictured above (TBC for 2024).

Food & Drink at the Hungarian Grand Prix

The food on offer at the Hungaroring has improved in recent years, but is still not that great. On the pricey side by local standards and there isn’t much in the way of healthy fare, but there is more variety on offer apart from hot dogs and hamburgers, including langos (Hungarian deep-fried flatbread), gyros and pizzas. Expect to pay around €5-10 for most meals.

A 500ml Heineken beer costs 1300 Forints (just over €3), which is probably the cheapest on the whole calendar! Water and soft drinks are a little cheaper and FREE drinking water refill stations are located in the Fan Zone. Keeping hydrated is essential in the hot summer sun and you should also be careful about your alcohol consumption at the track. It’s possible to pay with both cash and card at all circuit vendors in either HUF or EUR; due to unfavourable exchange rates, it’s always cheaper to pay in the local currency.

  1. Is that mean that there ist no autographmeeting and i have no Chance to get Autograph from Drivers?

    1. Hi Jennifer, it’s not impossible, but you will need to try hard. I suggest arriving early so you can be one of the first to enter for the pitlane walk. And you will need to go to your favorite team/driver garage and hope for the best, good luck! Another option is to stake out some of the best 5-star hotels in the center of Budapest and look for teams/autograph hunters. You may get more lucky with that approach.

      1. Hello,Can I participate in the pit line walk which will be held on Thursday with GA ticket?
        Thanks alot!

          1. Hi!
I had a telefon speech with the gpticketshop.hu and they said that the 3 days Ticket isnt enough to go to the Pit Lane walk. You had to buy a 25euro Ticket which was just avaible to the people who bought a 3 days Ticket. But these Tickets are sold out.

          2. That’s correct. We updated this post as soon as the tickets went on sale including the link. Sorry that you missed out, but the pit lane tickets were available for around a week before selling out

        1. We will see. Hopefully the COVID-19 restrictions will be relaxed for the drivers. Normally, there’s an autograph session on Thursday afternoon as part of the pit lane walk – but it can get very crowded.

      2. Hi,
Do you know of it possible to get on the track after the race ends to see the podium?
        Thank you.

        1. Yes it will be possible. There will be some entry points on the last corner, also at the end of the Super Gold grandstand on the way to Turn 1. I think various points will be opened up around the track, but these are closest to podium

  2. Hi,

I am taking my son this year to celebrate his 18th birthday and would like to treat him to a few things. What are the prices of a programme and other memorabilia?

    Thanks

    1. Hi Joe, you’ll have a great time at the Hungaroring. It’s one of my favorite races and also my home race, as I am based in nearby Poland. Anyway, the program isn’t that cheap; normally costs around 15-20 EUR. Memorabilia is also expensive at the track (Tshirts and caps starting at 30-40 EUR and going up), but you can also buy some of the previous seasons memorabilia a bit cheaper. The good news is that beer is pretty cheap at the Hungaroring. It gets hot though, so don’t forget to also drink lots of water! Andy

      1. Hi, where can i buy an official race program? I am interested in finding out about all the small events happening during the weekend and have a better chance of meeting the drivers.

        Thank you!

      1. Depends whether you want to watch the support races before F1 or not. Most people arrive around 9-10am but you can get there later if you want. Race starts at 3pm

        1. Hi, I’m also from Poland and I’m taking my wife for her 40th birthday to Hungaroring 2022. I’ve bought tickets for Super Gold Grand Stand 1-12 rows (fri-sat). Does it allows us to participate in Public Pit Lane walk on Thursday ? I’ve also tried to search the Packages Section for a Pit Lane access, but it all comes with the seats included which I’ve already bought.

    1. Hi, I’m not Joe but I’ll answer anyway. The General Admission areas at the Hungaroring are excellent, there’s plenty of good vantage points to see the track. Read more in our Tickets guide.

  3. Debbie Wright

    Hi Andy ( not Joe ! )

I love going on the track after the race – we are in Gold 4 , do you know if there is an entrance nearby ? Also , in Russia , they cleared us off pretty sharpish after the race . Do you know if we can stay longer . I love Ted´s notebook & seeing the winning driver infront of his garage after would be fab . Best Wishes , Debbie ( not Joe ! )

    1. Hi Debbie! I’m not 100% sure, but I think there will be an entry on to the track near Gold 4 after the race. (Good grandstand choice by the way!) From memory, they are not in any hurry to kick you off the track quickly at the Hungaroring. Andy

  4. Hi Andy,
I will be at the race for the whole weekend and I would like to know if I can pay the food and drinks on track with euro’s. Or do I need to change my euro’s for Forints before coming to the track? This because the bus from Holland will drop us right at the track on Friday morning, And we stay at an highway Hotel 20km from Boedapest (so I will not see a ATM).
    Thanks!!

    1. Hi Alexander, you can pay for food and drinks with EUR, from memory. Maybe not with all vendors, but most of them. I think there is also an ATM inside the circuit, in the fan zone area behind the main grandstand.

  5. Hi Andy,

Do you know if English commentary is available at the track?

I went in 2015 and I think they were selling radios, but seem to remember there was nothing being broadcast.

Going again this year and want to know what my options are for keeping up with what’s going on.

    Thanks for the help,

    Tom :)

    1. Hi Tom, I think the trackside commentary is in several languages (probably Hungarian, English and German). Probably there will be some kind of radios being offered, but I am not sure. There’s also the big TV screens, some of which can be seen from the General Admission areas. And lastly, you can try your mobile device, provided the network doesn’t get jammed. Remember that European roaming charges were abolished last month, so you won’t pay more for roaming data in Hungary.

  6. Jasper van Someren

Hi! Do you know if you can pay with debit or credit card for food and drink? And for caps and shirts??

    1. Hi Jasper, I’m not 100% sure, but you should be ok to pay for merchandise with card. Some food/drink stalls may accept cards, but I can’t guarantee it

    2. I have only missed the Hungarian Grand prix over the last 7 or so years because of Covid. Last year though almost all the stands and food stalls accepted credit or debit cards.

  7. Jasper van Someren

Oh and another question I have is this. Are there any other things to do around the track on Saturday or Sunday like concerts or DJ’s that are playing?

    1. Hi Jasper, there is lots happening around the circuit over the weekend. Nothing big, but there will be some live music/DJs. The circuit also used to be well known for ‘adult entertainment’ but I don’t know if this is still going on or not!

  8. Hi,

Is it allowed to bring my dslr camera to the circuit? I read different things about what is allowed and what’s not. We’re at the Red Bull stand.
    Thanks!

    Natasja

    1. Hi Natasja, you should be fine with your DSLR camera, lots of other fans also bring them. Just don’t go crazy with the lens; biggest you should bring is 400mm.

        1. I’m not 100%, but you should be fine bringing a monopod in, provided it collapses and can be stored in your backpack on entry

  9. Hi Andy,
I will be going the Thursday pit walk. Can you suggest the nearest parking area and the nearest gate that we should use enter the track. We will be pushed for time.

    Thank you,
    Paul

    1. Hi Paul, I drove to the circuit for the pitwalk a couple of years ago. From memory, I think you can only enter from Gate 8. The best place to park is the large free parking nearby Gate 7 & 8. Check the map

    1. Not on the schedule Amanda, but there’s normally autograph signings happening during the pitlane walk. Alternatively, perhaps something will be organized in the F1 village; perhaps on Saturday night when there is supposed to be a fan forum.

  10. Hi, is the no umbrella rule enforced. I do realise that you’d have to be careful using one so as not block anyone’s view. I was wanting to take one for shade thanks

  11. Hi Andy,

is it allowed to take bigger backpacks into the circuit area? We are leaving to the airport straight from the track on Sunday, and would have our hand luggage with us :D
Thanks a lot! And many thanks for this awesome website :)

  12. Hi Andy,

thank you for taking the time to answer all these questions.

I have a Bronze 1 ticket for the weekend. Can I enter the track after the race is over? I want to attend the victory ceremony.

    1. Hi Catalin, there’s good access for ticketholders. Yes, you will be able to attend the podium ceremony. I suggest you head around to the final corner near the end of the race to get access after the race and make sure you have a good view!

  13. Any specific advice for 1st time goer? I’m pretty much hyped for the race, but I have only GA ticket, and I’m not sure when exactly am I going to arrive at the track? Any specific places in GA to look for (good for taking pics maybe)? Is there also possibility to pick up any broken car parts at turn 1 for example?

    1. Hi Igor, you will have a ball! It will be hot, so most important is to take hat/sunglasses/sun cream and drink lots of fluids (water as well as beer!) Lots of good vantage points up high to take photos of the cars without the barriers. As for broken car parts, maybe you will get lucky right after the race ends when they open the track up, but more likely you will find tire marbles.

  14. Hi, how about the folding chairs, can we bring them in? Do they expect people sitting on the grass for 3 days? At Red Bull Ring chairs are encouraged but here seats are forbidden. Also, forbidden umbrellas sounds like a nonsense in sunny or raining weather… I could get to the pit lane walk with umbrella with no problem. Please advise, as the rules are not very clear. Thanks!

  15. Hi Andy,
Tanks for the good job that you make here
    a question please

i have a general admision tiket

after the race i want to go to see the ceremony

please tell me where i most position my self before the race end …

to be to the near gate ciucuit wenn open …???

sorry for my bad english hope you understand

    1. Sorry Lukas, my reply is a bit slow. I know that they open the gate only at the last corner. I heard it got pretty crazy and not everyone could get in for the podium. I hope it worked out for you!

  16. Just got a birthday present for 2018 GP, at the bronze seating. How long would it take to get to the podium area after race, as I really want to see that. Can’t wait

    1. Hi Darach, I estimate it would take you around 20-30 mins to get from Bronze to the main straight. I suggest you start moving with about 15 laps to go, so that you are in position when the race ends!

    1. Hi Stephen, you will need Hungarian Forints (HUF). 1 GBP = 350 HUF. Easiest will be to withdraw cash from a local ATM after you arrive.

    1. I’d say it’s possible, but I cannot guarantee. I’d recommend you pay extra for camping and bring your tent, for a more comfortable experience

  17. Hi there,

We’re planning a trip to the Hungarian GP this year. Now I see a guidebook for this year’s race: https://hungaroring.hu/guidebook/

It says no backpacks are allowed and also no drink or food are allowed to bring to the circuit.

I have been to several races through the years and never had any problems to bring a backpack with my own food and drinks.

Was this the case last year too and how strict are they if you bring a backpack with some food and drinks?

    1. Hi, I haven’t been for a couple of years, but I find it very difficult to believe you won’t be allowed inside the circuit with a small backpack. As always, it depends on the whim of the inspectors at the gate. You may be lucky or unlucky. But I would take a backpack!

        1. I just checked in your link and they clarify at the end that it’s just heavy backpacks that aren’t allowed: 8. No animals will be admitted to the Venue or to any car parks. The following articles must not be brought within the Venue: items, tools especially dangerous or hazard- ous to public safety, as defined in regulations, weapons, cutting or stabbing devices, authoritarian symbols, glass, drone, segway, bicycles, rollers, skateboards, electric or combustion-engine driven motorcycles, pyrotechnics, laser devices, any kind of seats, cooler bags, backpack exceeding 20kgs, non-collapsible umbrellas or parasols, or any other objects which might be used as a weapon and/or compromise public safety. The entry of any person in possession of such items will be refused to the Venue by the Promoter. The allowed quantity of food and beverage to be taken into the Race Track: maximum 0,5 litre of liquid/person (water, soft drink, etc.) and sandwiches in not com- mercial quantity.
          Have fun :)

  18. Kirsty Robinson

    Hi
Is there a bridge from the fan zone/ main circuit area that takes you across to the paddock ? My husband works for one of the teams and I’m hoping My little girl and I could meet him over the weekend to say Hi (I’m aware we will need a pass) but just unsure where the paddock access point would be

  19. Hi,

I have a General Admission ticket for this weekend. As this will be my first Grand-Prix I will be arriving at the track first thing in the morning in order to get a good viewing position for the race.
What I’d like to know is how I can keep my place throughout the day? If I need to buy some food or drink, use the bathroom or just have a walk and strech my legs, how do I stop someone from pinching my spot?

    Many thanks

    Chris

  20. Hello!

For the qualifying session can you sit in any grandstand?

Thanks for updating this website, its been so useful for us on our first time!

    Ollie

    1. Sorry for the late reply. No you cannot. On Friday, you can pay 20 EUR extra to sit in a grandstand. But on Saturday and Sunday, you need to sit in your allocated seats.

  21. I want to go on Sunday to see the f1 race.
Thickets are sold out. Can I buy the ticket from the circuit on Sunday?

  22. Andrew, are tickets for weekend general admission available for purchase on hungaroring on Thursday?

    1. They will be available if they are not yet sold out. I would recommend you purchase as the race may sell out ahead of time. Lots of Polish fans will be there to support Kubica, and they tend to buy General Admission more than Grandstand tickets

  23. Hello!
Can you please tell me,im planning on getting myself a general admission ticket, i know that a general admission ticket holder cant enter the paddock, but do they have access to the paddock entrance, and can i wait in front of the paddock entrance to try and catch some drivers walking in and out? Thank you in forwards!

    1. Hi Haris, this is not really possible in Hungary as the Paddock entrance is on the inside of the circuit – normal grandstand and general admission ticket holders cannot access the inside of the circuit at the Hungaroring. The only place you can maybe see drivers is as they drive into the circuit in their cars, or at some of the top 5-star hotels in Budapest where they stay

  24. Dane Shepherd

    Hey Andrew

We have payed to seat at a grandstand for this years Hungarian gp and just want to know if you’ll be able to seat anywhere else but your own for the friday and saturday?

Also me and my 2 friends are flying back to the uk at 9:25pm, could you please give us any tips what would help us get to the airport on time, thanks!

    1. Hi Dane, you can pay 20 EUR to sit in a different grandstand on Friday, but this is not possible on Saturday. You can also visit the General Admission areas at any time throughout the weekend. You should be fine with your flight. I suggest taxi from the circuit – perhaps try and book earlier so you don’t have to wait in the big queue at the end of the race?

  25. Hi Andrew,

Does the General Admission ticket give you free roam in grandstands on Fridays many other European circuits or is it GA all weekend?

    1. Hi Andy, they stopped the Free Friday roaming at the Hungaroring a few years ago, but you can upgrade on the day for 20 EUR to sit in your chosen grandstand.

  26. Hi, can I pay for the tickets on the track gor cash in EUR without changing to HUF? I can’t find that info anywhere.

    1. Hi Paul, there’s no big-name concerts at the Hungarian Grand Prix. But the popular Sziget Festival in Budapest normally happens on the weekend after the race if that helps.

  27. Hi, I bought two tickets for the Grand Prix in August 2021, but I’m pretty nervous regarding whether it will be held or not because of the pandemic. Just in case it won’t, will they reschedule it or will I just get the money for the tickets back?

    1. Hi Naomi, I’d say there is a very good chance the race will happen in Budapest this summer. There is a risk that the capacity will be reduced however. Depending on where you bought the tickets, you should have the option of moving your tickets to next year if the race is cancelled or getting a refund. The ticket company may take a small percentage as a kind of fee.

  28. Hi,

I’m planning to go to this year’s race. Do you know if from Bronze 2 you can see any action on the climb preceding turn 4?

    Many thaniks,

    João

  29. Is it 100% confirmed the race will be held with fans allowed this year? And are fans from other countries than Hungary allowed? I noticed the Hungarian admission requirements to enter the country are quite strict for foreigners

    1. Hi Laurent, tickets have been on sale for a long time and all indications are that the Hungarian GP will operate at or close to 100% capacity (did you see the full grandstands in Budapest for the recent Euro 2020 matches?) The EU digital certificate will be released on July 1 and that provides the opportunity to travel within the Schengen zone provided you can show you are vaccinated, recently recovered or can provide a recent negative test result for COVID-19. More information here: https://reopen.europa.eu/en/map/HUN/7011

  30. Hello, is it necessary to have a completed vaccination document in order to enter the circuit for the F1 GP? For people from Serbia, it’s not necessary to have any document of completed vaccination or any PCR test, so I’m interested in this. Also if you have GA tickets, can you pay additionally to sit at the grandstand on Sunday? If this is possible where do you actually pay that additional fee?
    Thanks!

  31. Hello,
I noticed a lot of comments with the possibly to upgrade from GA to another category, for example. Which website allows this possibility?
Cause I bought the tickets from gpticketshop and when I contacted them to upgrade to a superior category, they said it’s not possible…

    Thanks.

    1. I think the comments were referring to the possibility of upgrading to a grandstand seat on Friday. Not sure if it will be possible this year, but it only cost 20 EUR in previous years. And I think you could arrange this at the track – maybe the ticket booth next to the entrance gates.

  32. Hi- Does anyone know if there are travel restrictions for non-EU visitors. Specifically, is there a 72 hr. limit that visitors can stay in Hungary if traveling for the F1 race? Thanks!

  33. Marko Pavlović

    Hi,
I was just wondering if you guys got your tickets. They sent me an email saying that there are certain problems with ticket assigning and that I must not worry and that they will be sent soon. So just to check what is your situation. Thanks.
    Best regards

    1. Not really any chances to meet the drivers at the track, as they spend most of their time in the middle of the circuit (Paddock) and fans cannot enter this area. Best chance would be to hang out at some of the best hotels in the centre of Budapest and try to meet them there.

  34. Hi there,

Thanks for all the info. We’re looking into going there for 2022 with a friend, it would be our first GP (yay!). Evening flights on Sunday are at the latest at 8pm for us, do you think we can make it in time ? Also we might have a carry on suitcase, could we get in the GP with it and maybe store it in a locker or something ?

    Thanks,
    Eva

    1. Hi Eva, I think you can make it, but I wouldn’t recommend it. You will not enjoy the end of the race if you are stressed about missing your flight. Better to fly back Monday morning if you can. I also don’t recommend taking suitcases to the track – I don’t think there is anywhere to store them.

  35. Hi it’s the first time that I am searching for a F1 ticket. I’m thinking the silver 1 or silver 2. Could you please tell me your opinion? And also what is the difference between Silver (WE) and Silver (SU) ?

    1. Hi Evi, Silver 1/2 are good grandstands, but I’d probably choose Red Bull or Silver 3 because they have a better view of the final corners (Silver 1 & 2 are better for the pits and Main Straight). WE = Weekend (3-Day ticket) and SU = Sunday (race day only ticket)

  36. Hello,

What is the difference between a normal super gold card and a 3 corner super gold card? Because price difference is about 200 euro’s.

    Kind regards

    1. Hi Rick, there’s two seat offers in the Super Gold Grandstand. Rows 1-12 are cheaper (250 EUR) because you have the catch fencing and no roof cover. The 3-Corner Super gold is the same price for 3 days as the Super Gold Rows 1-12. (and you get the same seat in Rows 1-12). Hope that makes sense!

  37. Hi Andrew

Got super gold rows 1-12 for 2022 x4 tickets do you get allocated seats when you get the tickets or is it first come first serve

    Thanks

    1. Yes these are allocated seats – though you may find things are a little less formal on Friday and you can move around in the grandstand a bit more. But for sure during qualifying and the race you will need to sit in your assigned seats.

  38. Hi Andrew, if I purchase a 3 day gold 4 stand ticket from the Hungaroring.hu website will this include the public pit lane walk? Thanks!

    1. Well, it would be better if you bought the tickets via our supplier :) But yes, all 3-day tickets – no matter where you buy from – include entry to the public pit lane walk on Thursday.

  39. Hi Andrew! Could you recommend me a gate and an area for sitting with the GA ticket? It´s my first F1 race, and a good view is principal for me. Then, I´m also interested in walk trought the circuit in order to collect tire marbles.

    Thanks, Iago.

    1. Hi Iago, I can’t really recommend gates as that will depend on how you decide to get to the circuit – easiest will be to just enter via the closest gate to where you arrive at the circuit. But as for good places to watch the action, the last time I watched the race in General Admission, I was up on the hill behind the last turn (Turn 14). You can get really good views of the final corner (Turn 14) and also quite distant views of the starting grid/pits. But you will need to be there early on race day to secure a good spot there. There’s also good views (and more space) on the hill behind Turns 9-11. Depending on restrictions, you should be able to walk on the track after the race to see the podium ceremony, and also collect some tyre marbles if you are quick.

  40. Gilbert Daccache

    Hi Andrew
    I booked a 4 tickets on bronze2 zone .
I m willing to rent a car . Do you think it’s an advantage? Or if i choose the public transportation would be better to avoid traffic congestion? Which hour do you advise me to leave budapest centre if i rent a car?

And if i have my car where do i park?
Which gate is near my zone?
Is it worth to buy a VIP parking for it?

    1. Hi Gilbert, that’s a lot of questions without a please or thank you :)
I personally don’t think it is worth hiring a car in Budapest and driving to the race. It would work out about the same to get a taxi there and back each day (about 80 EUR per day both ways) and then you don’t have to worry about the car, parking etc etc. And you can have a few beers at the track. The key is to use the official taxi company which can use a special lane to get into and out of the circuit. You can take the train/bus to get to the circuit, but it can be hot, overcrowded and involve lots of walking.

If you do hire a car, parking is free at the track. I don’t think it’s worth buying VIP Parking, personally.

More information about getting to and from the track by different methods is in this post: https://f1destinations.com/getting-around-hungarian-f1-grand-prix/

Closest gate to the Bronze grandstsand – see the map on this page – is Gate 2.

      1. Gilbert Daccache

        Hi Andrew
Sorry sorry didn’t notice that .was really thinking about my questions.
Big and biggest thanks for you .

  41. Hello, I´m from the Basque Country (Spain) and I´m planning my first trip to Hungaroring. I´ve already been in two F1 races in France but it was back in 2007 and 2008, so I guess that many changes have been made.
I´m about to get the GA Ticket, so i´d like to know which are the best spots. I´ve seen that it can be great in the last corner but I´m not pretty sure about it. I´m not considering the T6 tickets as i think that it´s way too far from the fan action.
I´d like to know your oppinion about the GA tickets as well as any advice you could give to enjoy to the MAX(imun)!
Thank you in advance for your time.
    Kind regards,

    Josu

Pd, I´m traveling with my girl and it´s her first ever F1 race.

    1. Hello Josu, the Hungarian GP is a great choice. I’m sure you and your girlfriend will have a great time. Budapest is also a very interesting city to visit. I’ve talked about some of the best places to watch in General Admission in the tickets post. But I do like watching up on the hill behind the final corner, that’s good. I have another idea for you, as the General Admission areas can get really crowded on race day and it’s nice to have a seat. I do agree that the Bronze seats are a long way from the fan action, but why not buy these (130 EUR vs 100 EUR for General Admission) – you can still spend most of the weekend in General Admission, but at least you have your own seat for the race. Worth thinking about.

  42. Hi😊,
could you please tell me if you know, do I need a pcr test or a vaccine to enter the Hungarian Grand Prix 2022.?
    Thank you
    P.s. I’m from Serbia

      1. Hi Andrew, thank you for uour detailed shared information.
Do you think that the new format where the driver interviews get moved to friday morning will affect the public pit lane walk on Thursday?

        Best Regards,
        Alexandros

        1. Not sure at this stage. We are still waiting for F1 to officially confirm any changes to the weekend format for 2022. But I’m hoping that for larger races like Hungary the pit lane walk on Thursday will continue.

  43. Hi Andy,

A group of friends and I will be attending the Hungarian GP in 2022. We noticed the no seats for GA – have people brought collapsable seating and been able to use them? What else do people sit on for 3 days?

    Thanks!

  44. Hi,
Yesterday when I was scrolling through instagram I saw that the meet and greets were back. Do you know if they will be back for all the races or if it’s just for the Bahrain gp?

    Thank u in advance!

    1. Very hard to say, but it seems like F1 is finally starting to open up. I think some races early in the season will have some restrictions, but for Hungary should be fine. Word of warning though, these driver autograph sessions can get very crowded. If you want to meet drivers, hanging out around the best hotels in the city can be a better strategy!

  45. Hi,

Is card widely accepted in the track or will it be best to get cash out? and would you suggest Forints or Euros?

    Thanks!

    1. Hi Ricki, you should be ok paying with card for most things at the track, but always good to have cash just in case. Although EUR is accepted, you are better off with Forints.

  46. Hi :) What time would be best to arrive on the Sunday if you have general admission tickets? Want to make sure we get a good spot.

Do you also have any advice as to where are the best spots to situate for general admission?

    Thanks!

      1. How early would you recommend? I believe the race starts at 3pm so should we be looking to get there for say 10am?

  47. Lois Degenhardt

    Hi Andrew,
Any idea of when the date/time for the pit walk will be published? We’ll be traveling from Vienna on Thursday and want to make sure we arrive in Budapest in time to be able to go to the pit walk, as I understand it is typically held on Thursdays. We do have the 3 day passes will which allow us access.

    Thanks much,
    Lois

    1. Stacey McMahon

Hi! Me and my family bought 5 tickets for the Redbull stand this year but we got them all at different times. Is it first come first serve for seats or are they allocated as there was nothing about seats when booking?

      Thank you

      1. Hi Stacey, I think you will have different allocated seats in the grandstand. It may be possible to sit with each other on Friday when there are generally less fans in the grandstand, but this is probably not going to be possible on Saturday or Sunday.

  48. Lois Degenhardt

    Hi Andrew,
Do you know what the date/time for the public pit walk will be published? We’re traveling from Vienna and want to make sure we arrive in Budapest on time. Thank you!

      1. Hello Andrew,

The full schedule of the Hungary Grand prix has been announced and there is not a reference to the public pit lane walk or any activities on Thursday whatsoever. Do we have any other source of information ro confirm whether the public pit lane walk will happen or not this year?

        Thank you so much,

        Alex

          1. Hello Andrew,

Tge public pit lane walk will haoleb this year with an extra ticket of 25 euros , thatn only 3 day ticket holders can buy.

            Alex

  49. Hi Andrew,

since you said that you think there will be track invasion this year, is there any track entry close to the Bronze 1 Grandstand or we will have to walk all they way to the start-stop line to enter the track?
    Thanks :)

    1. It’s possible you can enter the track near Bronze 1, but it’s a long walk around to the podium. If you actually want to get a good view for the podium ceremony, you should walk around earlier and be ready to enter the track as soon as it’s opened up after the race

      1. Hi Andrew,

It’s going to be my first GP and I was wondering where that place is where you can enter the track? I’ll be sitting in the Grid grandstand with great view of the last corners and main straight but I won’t be able to see the podium, unfortunately. So I suppose I should walk around to the track entry too? But I just have no idea where that is…

        Thank you in advance!

        1. Don’t worry, you are very close. It will become clear near the end of the race where you need to go to enter the track, probably quite close to your grandstand

  50. Hi Andrew,

Firstly, thanks for all the fantastic information on the site. I’ve learned a lot from reading the article and comments.

Secondly, a couple of quick question regarding taxis. Should we pre-book taxis via the ‘official’ taxi website to get to and from the track? Or would you just book the Budapest to track leg, and then grab a random ‘official’ taxi back to Budapest after the race?
Do the taxis pick up at the same point they drop off post race? Last question, you mentioned that 6×6 taxi were the only official company for the last few races, where can I confirm this year’s official taxi company/companies?

    Thanks in advance
    Paul

    1. Hi Paul, if it’s possible to pre-book a taxi for your return it would be a good idea. Yes, taxis do drop off and pick up in the same location. Could be a very long taxi queue after the race if you don’t have a driver booked for you. I haven’t yet seen all the 2022 information published for the race. I do expect 6×6 to once again be the official taxi company, but cannot confirm if it will be only them until the information is published by the circuit – closer to the race.

  51. Hi, are there any covid related requirements in order to enter to the track (in 2021 there were some restrictions)?

  52. Hi,

Are you allowed to bring camping/collapsible chairs and also Cool Bags for drinks/food etc??
    Thanks

    1. I think you will be ok with a camping chair, but cool bags are prohibited. You can only bring in “maximum 0.5 litres of liquid per person (water and other non-alcoholic drinks, soft drinks, beer, other) and 3 sandwiches per person.”

  53. Hi, I’m looking for the pit lane walk on Thursday but I don’t have a 3 days ticket. I have a ticket for each day separately. Is it still possible to go for the pit lane walk ?

    Thanks

    1. Yes should still be possible. But you need to buy a ticket this year for the pit lane walk, which costs 25 EUR. Check this post again, I just updated the information about the pit lane walk and added the link to buy the tickets. I would buy sooner rather than later, as the tickets will probably be sold out quickly.

  54. Hi! Im going to my first F1 race in Hungary, bought GA tickets for saturday. Would I be able to get a photo/autograph of the drivers anywhere on saturday?
    Thanks!

    1. Unless there is some kind of autograph session on Saturday, it will be difficult. The drivers arrive and leave the circuit via the infield, which regular fans don’t have access to. Unless you find a friend who will take you into the F1 Paddock, the only real hope is to go and stake out some of the top 5-star hotels in the centre of Budapest where the teams stay.

  55. Dear Andrew, can you please confirm, if I can freely take with me to a Granstand places a photo camera (not a professional one, but also not a compact one – reflex with small tele – below 300 mm) and binoculars? Thanks in advance! Greets!

  56. Hi Andrew,

First of all, thank you very much for your kind and continued insight and advice surrounding the Hungarian GP – all very helpful!

Hopefully the Thursday Pit Lane Walk will be announced shortly. If it is given the green light, do you know what ‘proof’ we would need to bring to the track to gain entry. Do we need to apply for another ticket or will the 3-Day Admission tickets suffice?

Secondly, do you have any idea on which 5* Budapest Hotels the teams typically book up and stay in during the week?

    Thanks again!

    1. Hi Ricky, pit lane walk has been announced and for the first time, you need to buy tickets for 25 EUR each. You will need to have proof of your 3-day tickets as well to attend. Link to buy pit lane walk tickets. I don’t know exactly which teams stay at which hotels, but for sure the following hotels should be on your list: Four Seasons Hotel Gresham Palace Budapest, The Ritz-Carlton, Budapest Marriott Hotel

        1. I figured out how to pay – I had to register for a Simple account using the app, add a credit card and then select that as a payment method upon checking out.

  57. Pit lane walk is not free now for 3-day ticket holders? Now I bought one for 25 euro or I’m wrong?

      1. Hi Andrew, thanks so much for all this info.

Do you know if the 500ml limit applies to empty bottles? I have a 1L water bottle that I usually empty to take through airport security then fill it the other side. I’m worried the GP won’t let me in with it based on the info I’ve managed to find. 500ml is not much!

        Thanks

        1. I assume it’s actually about the number of bottles you bring in, not if they are full or empty. As long as you have one you will be fine, as you have free drinking water fountains inside the circuit.

  58. Hi, do you think a pop up beach tent would be allowed in the general admission areas? I attended Barcelona and unless you were under shade it was unbearable! It could be hotter in Hungary, but don’t want to bring all the gear and for it to not be allowed? Everything is collapsible so will be in my backpack.

    1. I think this should be fine Jack, provided your backpack isn’t bigger than 20 litres. As always though, it does come down to luck of the draw with security personnel at the gates. Some will be more lenient and others stricter.

  59. Good afternoon.
I would like to ask if you know it would be gluten free options forma the food inside the circuit.
    Thank you un advance.

  60. Donald Heyrich

Any info on whether there will be trackside commentary feed available on AM or FM and, if so, what frequency? The network overcapacity at the track does not allow for online streaming.

    1. There is always trackside commentary on the loudspeakers in both English and the local language. I need to check if there’s any radio frequency you can tune into, but I don’t remember this being available in Hungary.

  61. Thanks for all your tips and advice! Great, lively side :)
I remember that before the pandemic in fanzone there was a stage where you could meet F1 drivers and F1 people (when I was at the race I saw a meeting with Guenther Steiner and people from Ferrari). Is it possible to check somewhere if something similar will happen this year? And who will you see?

    1. For sure there will be a fanzone behind the Super Gold grandstand, like every year. But I don’t know if there will be a stage with appearances by drivers/team bosses. But keep an eye out as something could be announced soon.

  62. hey Andreew, your posts have been really helpful. I thought until now that pitlane walk was free for 3day GA ticketholders ad they are now sold out. Is it possible to get them from anywhere else?

    thank you in advance.

  63. Lois Degenhardt

    Hi Andrew,
Looks like we missed out on the public pit walk! Have you been able to confirm which taxi company is the official one for the race? I’d like to try to book in advance.

    Thank you,
    Lois

  64. barbora holcmannová

hello I would like to ask if there is an autograph session on Saturday or something?

    thank you for answer

  65. Hello! I go with my family to Hungary for the F1, we will be there the whole week and have pit lane walk tickets on Thursday. But will be there also a podium in the fan zone where they have the riders come up and ask for autographs? is there already a schedule about the fanzone maybe?

  66. What’s the recommended time to arrive at the circuit on Saturday? Is there any chance to meet the pilots if I have silver2 ticket? Where do the pilots enter? It’s the first time I participate and I don’t know too many details. Thank you in advance!

    1. No recommended time. The first race for F3 starts at 11am, but many people will get there earlier – say 9-10am. It’s up to you when you arrive! It’s hard to meet the drivers at the Hungaroring, as they enter via car at the Main Gate (near Turn 1) and go to the infield, which is off limits to most fans.

  67. Hi, we missed out on tickets for the pit lane walk, will there be any available on the day? If not, would it still be worth heading down to the track on Thursday?

    1. It’s possible you will be able to buy tickets on the day, but probably for a higher price. But personally I wouldn’t risk the trip to the circuit without these tickets

  68. Hi, I want to know, is there any chance to meet F3, F2 or W series drivers in between the races? Also can I bring Inflatable Chair(in blowout state)?

    1. The FAQ on the Hungaroring website states that “It is not allowed to bring any type of chair into the Hungaroring area.” As for meeting drivers, it’s possible there will be some appearances by these drivers in the Fanzone. Otherwise, it’s difficult to meet drivers at the Hungaroring, as the infield area near the pits is off limits to most fans.

      1. Thank you so much for all the great commentary! Your help is very valuable for us foreigners coming to Budapest for the first time.

Regarding foldable chairs. You have earlier said that you have seen people take chairs in the GA, however now you quote the website that chairs are not allowed. Is this because it’s changed? Or do they have this rule but they are generally relaxed with it?

        1. I guess this has changed. I’m just reporting what the current terms and conditions say. But honestly, it’s always about your luck at the entrance – there’s a chance you will be let in with a chair, but also a chance you won’t be let in. I personally wouldn’t risk taking one

  69. Such a bad news I just found out, we were so thrilled to attend the Pit Walk! How come it’s changed? When it was changed? I thought that a GA 3day ticket is not enough for Thursday’s Pit Walk, if I would knew this before I would buy the additional tickets without any hesitation, but now it’s sold out.

    Any idea what to do?

    1. Sorry Karel, we did update this post and share the news about the pit lane walk tickets on our social media accounts. I guess there’s a chance you can still buy tickets at the track on Thursday, but for a higher price.

  70. Hi, can I bring with me a small collapsible umbrella, and a pocket fan to have durring the race and quallifications ? I have general addmission tickets for all 3 days.

  71. Hello! I have a ticket at Silver 3, so can I do the activities at the Fanzone or those are for another type of ticket? Also, there are any chances to get an autograph or to take a picture with any driver if I don’t have a ticket for the pit lane walk? Thank you!

    1. Yes, with a Silver 3 ticket you can go to the fanzone behind the Super Gold grandstand. Not really a chance to get driver autographs at the Hungaroring, unless there is some signing in the fanzone that’s not yet been announced.

  72. Hi,

Traveling from Ireland and devastated to hear this about the additional tickets require for the pit lane walk.

If anyone cannot make the pit lane last minute or have additional tickets for the pit lane walk on Thursday, I would gladly purchase 2 from you.

    Thanks,

    Brian

    1. Sorry Brian, we did post about the tickets on our website and social channels a few weeks ago. I was there today and it was hot and crowded! Anyway, hope you enjoy the rest of the weekend.

  73. John Falconer

    Hi
We have gold 4 tickets for Sunday and it looks like gates 1 & 8 are our best options are there any busses direct to thes gates from the city centre? If so where do they leave from? If not what are our best options to get there?
    Many thanks

    1. All the options for getting to the track are listed in our Getting Around post. You can take the train/shuttle bus from the city centre, but the buses only go to Gate 3 at the bottom of the circuit. If you decide to take an official taxi, then you can get dropped off at the Main Gate. From there, it’s only a 100m walk up the hill to Gate 8 – right next to the Gold 4 grandstand.

  74. Hello,
I’m coming with a friend and we fly out late Sunday night/Monday AM so we will have our bags with us. Do you know if there is a place we can check these in at so we can have them with us ready to head to the airport after the race?

    Thanks!

    1. I don’t believe there is any kind of luggage storage at the track. REally best idea would be to store them at hotel/accommodation in Budapest and get after the race. Alternatively, I’m sure the main train station in Budapest has luggage storage facilities. I don’t recommend taking luggage to the track

  75. Hello,

We have a problem with backpacks. One of our backpacks is bigger (26 litres). The problem is that right after the race we need to get to the airport. Do you know how strict they are with the volume or if there are options like lockers where we could put our stuff?

    Thanks in advance!

    1. Honestly, you should be fine. It’s all down to luck really with the specific security person on the gate. It’s not much bigger than the maximum anyway, I don’t think it will be an issue for you. If it is, you can always try to get in at another gate

  76. Hi!
I was wondering if i can visit the Hungaroring during the summer when there is not any race, if there are any guided tours, whitch include visits to the Paddock and Pits, Race Control and the Formula 1 Podium? And if this is possible what I need to do? I meed to make a reservation in advance, or I can go there anytime? And how much it cost one ticket or is free?

    Thank you!

    1. Yes, I think so! If you want a good view of the podium, you should be near the final corner or near the overpass at pit exit a few laps before the end of the race

  77. Hello! Could you please tell me if Public pit lane walk and exclusive pit lane walk are the same? if no, where and when can i buy tickets for public pit lane walk? thank you

    1. No these are not the same. The Exclusive Pit Lane Walk is only for F1 Experiences guests. Anyone with a ticket for the race can participate in the public pit lane walk, but you now need to buy a ticket. Tickets for the public pit lane walk will probably not go on sale until 1-2 months before the race. You will need to act quickly as these tickets sold out quickly this year.

  78. hello! I bought tickets for the Gold 1 & 2 area but the seats aren’t specified. Does that mean that i can seat anywhere in this area? thank you

  79. Is there some sort of email alert for 3day ticket holders, when pitlane walk tickets become available?
Or should we just constantly check official f1 tickets website?

  80. hello – thanks for all info on your website. I am booked for 3 days GA.

Staying in Budapest – how do you recommend travelling to circuit each day? Looking for best value for money.
Where is best place to buy £25 Thursday ticket?
I was last there 2015 and sat on the hill looking over the final turn, and looking down the start/finish straight. Appreciate F1 more popular since then – is that option still available or has grandstand been placed in the way now?

    1. Hi Craig, thanks a lot! Like most races, the Hungarian GP has got a lot more popoular in recent seasons. You can take the train/shuttle bus to the circuit (cheapest way), but the queues for the shuttle bus when leaving the circuit can be really long. If you don’t mind walking a bit, you can just get the train and then go on foot. More info here. The tickets for the Thursday pit lane walk will go on sale closer to the race from the circuit website, Hungaroring.hu. Keep an eye out on social media or subscribe to our site (check the box for Hungary) and we will notify you. As for your last question, yes, they have added new grandstands up on the hill overlooking the last corner and main straight, but I think there is still some room there for GA – you’ll probably need to get there early on race day to get a good spot.

  81. Hi!

I am going in 2023 and we have supergold rows 1-12, they were a bit cheaper because of the fencing being in the way or something. Do you know how blocked the view is from those rows? Thanks for all your info on here it’s been so helpful

    1. I don’t think it’s too bad. You could even see it as an advantage as the seats are closer to the track. But in general higher seats give you a better view and without having to look through the catch fencing.

  82. Hello, i have one and only question and that is if after the race anyone can go to track and yk watch podium and stuff. Thanks

    1. Yes, anyone can go on the track and watch the podium ceremony after the race! If you want a good view, it’s best idea to get close to the main straight a few laps before the end of the race. They open some gates on to the track soon after the race finishes

      1. Do you know exactly which entrances will be open? I’m sitting in the S3 grandstand and I’m wondering which entrance will be closest to the track after the race

        1. I don’t know exactly, but I’m pretty sure there will be an entrance opened right in front of the Silver 3 grandstand. Just ask around, you will have almost three days at the track to find out the best place to enter after the race :)

  83. Hi… Great page!

I’ve got GA tickets, is the final corner still the best place to watch from and do you know how many people that GA area holds? I’ve seen that chairs aren’t permitted but do you know if throwing down a big blanket would be allowed? Any idea what time gates open on race day?

Thanks and keep up the great work 👊🏼

    1. Hi Gordie, the final corner is still a good place to watch – but the area has got a lot smaller because they have built new grandstands. Otherwise you have more room on the hill behind Turns 12-13. I’m not sure about the GA capacity, but it will be full. I think you will have no issue bringing a blanket in to sit on, good idea. Gates should be opening at 8am.

  84. Darius Emanuel

    Hello,

I have a ticket for Redbull Grandstand for full weekend an I want to know if for friday and saturday the hole circuit area it can be accessed with this ticket, or just Redbull area?

    Thank you!

    1. Hi Darius, yes you can access other parts of the circuit the whole weekend with your Red Bull grandstand ticket. You cannot sit in other grandstands, but you can walk around and check the views in General Admission and also go to the F1 Fanzone

  85. Hi Andrew,
Do you think it will be possible to catch a flight leaving Budapest Airport at 8pm after the race finishes on Sunday?

    Thank you,
    HN

    1. I think this is too early. I would say better at 9-10pm or the next morning even better. It can be slow to get out of the track after the race, depending on how you are travelling. I wouldn’t risk such an early departure. You will be worried about missing your flight, and it will mean you won’t enjoy the end of the race.

  86. Hi Andrew,

1.What do you thing is better Golden 4 or General Admission ticket?
    2. If I buy Golden 4, can I walk around where is place for General Admission?
3.With Golden 4. on Thursday can I enter for pitwalk?

    Thank you, great work!

    1. Hello, you are talking about Gold 4 grandstand? (It’s not called “Golden 4”)
      1. Always better to have a grandstand seat if you can afford it. Gold 4 is a good one
      2. Yes, if you have a grandstand seat, you can always walk around the General Admission areas
      3. All three-day ticket holders can participate in the pit lane walk on Thursday, but you will need to buy a ticket (this was introduced last year). Tickets are not on sale yet for 2023; keep an eye on Hungaroring social channels for this info. We will also provide details when these go on sale.

      1. Hello Andrew,
do you remeber when the Pitwalk Tickets were available last year for Hungaroring?
        One month before the event?

  87. Hi Andrew,

Do you know if the F1 High Speed Test is going to be replacing the Pit Lane Walk? It is also scheduled for the Thursday and mentions about seeing the Pit Lane.

    Many thanks!

    1. I don’t know about this, Aoife. As far as I can see, the full programme has not yet been released. I’m expecting that there still will be a pit lane walk, and you’ll need to buy tickets like last year.

  88. I see that Open Pitlane tickets have sold out. Do you know if there is any site to buy those tickets second hand?

  89. anywhere I can find what entertainment is going to be on each evening if any like bands/dj’s

any one got contacts who can get me Redbull Hospitality on any of the days

    1. There’s no evening entertainment at the Hungaroring. For nighttime fun, go to Budapest! Plenty of bars, restaurants and clubs.
Sorry, can’t help with getting Red Bull hospitality, I think that’s all sold out for this year

  90. Hi. Sadly missed the email “Pit Lane Walk tickets now available”.
Is there any chance to still find tickets? Some forums maybe?

      1. Hi Andrew! You’re a pure gold to answer all of those questions! Do you know maybe if there will be like second round of tickets for High speed test? I missed those :((( I was checking for weeks and then I stoped like for a week and when I checked again they were already sold out… I even asked people if someone wants to sell it but I don’t trust people who tries to sell it for 80 EUR, would rather to just buy it in legal way. Do you know maybe if there is a possibility to buy them also at the track or SOLD OUT is a game over? :(
Thank you in advance for your answer!

        1. Hi Maria, thanks for your nice words! Unfortunately, I don’t think there will be any more tickets. Sold out is sold out. They will not be for sale at the track. Sorry, but you have to be quick with these.

        2. In case you missed getting the ticket, like how i did (😅), there are people on reddit selling them at r/GrandPrixTravel (they seem legit when you ask for some ID)

  91. Hello. We are ging to see F1 for the 1st time. We bought tickets for RedBull grandstand. Now they came by email and we have Sector M, row 29 – I found it is the closest sector to Silver 3 and highest row. I know I cannot do anything to change them, but I would like to ask – is it good or bad being in the highest row?

    1. Hi Kinga, normally it’s good to be in the highest row. That’s because you won’t have the catch fencing blocking your view, and also you get better panoramic views. Don’t worry, I’m sure you will have great seats

  92. Hi Andrew, do you know if you can still sit in any grandstand on a Friday if you have a 3-day ticket? I have a 3-day ticket in Gold 4.

    1. No you cannot. It was stopped in around 2018 I think, but you used to be able to pay a small amount (like 20 EUR) to get a seat in a different grandstand on Friday. However, given the much bigger attendance now, I’m not sure even this is available any more.

      1. That is a shame! It was one of the great perks of having a weekend ticket! I found it was the same at Monza last year even though when i went in 2018 you could free roam. Thanks for the info anyway, Andrew!

  93. Hi Andrew,

Thanks for all the info you provide!
It will be our first F1 race this year so we are not sure if the rules ragarding the items you can bring to the race are still up to date since the info we received are from people how attended last when Michael Schuhmacher was still driving :)

Are you allowed to bring some food of your own if you have a certain diet?
Am I understanding the rules coorect that you can bring a bag to hold some jakets for exsmple as long as it does not weigh more than 20 kg?
Camping chairs (foldable) are forbidden right?

Thanks a lot. Can’t wait for the race weekend!
    Best regards from Germany.

    1. It’s been a while, Kevin! Lots of much newer fans will be joining you at the Hungaroring this year.
Check “Terms & Conditions” on this link: https://hungaroring.hu/site/en/races/2023-formula-1-qatar-airways-hungarian-grand-prix-en
      Here are the relevant points:

It is also prohibited to bring any of the listed items into the Venue: objects or devices defined by law as particularly dangerous to public safety; stabbing or cutting instruments; authoritarian symbols; glass objects; drones; segway; bicycles; scooters; skateboards; electric or explosive motorcycles; pyrotechnics (including smokes); laser devices; seating of any kind; coolers; rucksacks over 20 litres; parasols and any other object that can be used as a weapon and/or that may endanger public safety. Separately, in the FAQs, it states that. you are not allowed to bring in any kind of camping or other chairs.

  94. Is there a possibility to go on and of and on again the same day by getting a bracelet e.g.? As we are camping nearby it would be nice to have lunch “at home” and then come back for later sessions.
    Thanks

      1. Hi Andrew

I read about the t&c and it says rucksacks need to be no more than 20L, is it strict? I mean are they gonna stop me entering the circuit if I’ve got a 35L backpack?

        Thx in advance
        Chenyu

        1. You should be fine, but it comes down to the individual security guards who check you at the gate. Worst case scenario, if you have an issue, you can try at another gate

  95. Hello, Andrew,

I am looking forward to my first F1 weekend, at Hungaroring and I have a couple of questions.
First, can you, please, let me know what grand stand is best for seeing the race start and where the TVs are located?
Also, at the end of the race, when the podium is installed, what is the nearest grand stand, so we can get closer to the podium when the fences are removed?
Last, what exactly are the activities held on Thursday? I am asking since I really want to have a chance and get in touch with some of the drivers, if possible. I am looking for a regular ticket for Thursday, not full hospitality, but I do not know the interactive activities and if you can meet the drivers.

    Thank you very much!

    1. Hi Radu, best grandstand for the start is probably Super Gold, which is opposite the grid and is the only covered grandstand at the Hungaroring. TVs are generally located opposite all of the grandstands. There may be some additional ones in the GA areas but I cannot confirm. For the podium ceremony at the end of the race, I would be down at the last corner end. I’m not sure of the exact entry points, but you can ask around while you are there and find out before the race.
Main activity on Thursday is a pit lane walk, where there is a chance to meet some drivers – but not in an organized way. Tickets cost 25 EUR for this and are now sold out.

  96. Hi! Can you please advise if anuone can participate in the fan forum that is held Saturday morning? I could not find this information anywhere.
    Thank you in advance!

    1. Yes it will be open to everyone at the track. It will take place on the stage in the Fanzone behind the Super Gold Grandstand. The timings for appearances won’t be released until a few days before the race weekend.

  97. Hi guys, did you know what time drivers will atending the Stage in the second Funzone before the last corner,

  98. Hi Andrew 👋

First timer to an F1 race this year. Unfortunately only a GA ticket for the whole weekend, no grandstand. I see that the weather is supposed to be extremely warm. Refill stations for bottles, are there many of them? Do you know what sort of food is available for purchase? Just trying to gauge whether cash is going to be mandatory or whether all vendors will accept major cards for payment. Also, if getting the train to Kerepes, is there a shuttle bus free of charge from the train station to the ring? Similarly on the way back after the action has concluded. Or are Taxis still the best way, albeit at a premium.
    Thanks in advance ! 😁

    1. Hi Ben, yes it does get really hot in Budapest on race weekend. Take a hat and sunscreen! There are plenty of refill stations for water. There’s lots of food available for purchase, most of it kind of “fast food” but a few different options and prices are not too bad. But you are also welcome to take in a couple of sandwiches for yourself as well. They accept card payments at the track. Yes, there is a free shuttle bus from Kerepes train station to the track. It’s a bit different on the return as it goes to a different station. You can also walk around 30 mins from the closest station to the track – worth thinking about at the end of the day, when the queues for the shuttle can be long. All info about getting to the track is here: https://f1destinations.com/getting-around-hungarian-f1-grand-prix/

    1. No. Don’t bring any kind of large suitcases or bags to the track, you won’t be able to store them anywhere – and you won’t be allowed into the circuit with them.

  99. Just come back from Silverstone and it was easy to follow the action by buying the silverstone commentary headsets. Is there anything similar at the Hungaroring with English commentary?

  100. Hi, i wanted to ask you, if you know already, at what time will drivers atending the Stage, please?
    Thank you!

  101. Richard Barnes

Hello, first time at hungaroring this year, after the race do they let people walk the track? I hope so as I see you cannot walk around the whole track

  102. Hi, from which seat positions I can get into the track once the race is finished. Is it possible for example from the General Admission ticket? Please let me know from which seats this is possible.

    1. Yes, it’s possible to get on the track after the race with any ticket. If you want a good view for the podium, head close to the podium on the Main Straight and they will open the fence after the race. Get there a few laps early! You can also enter from near the final turn.

  103. Hi! Can I bring binoculars to the race? I couldn’t find anything in that category mentioned in the allowed/forbidden items lists. Thank you!

  104. Hi Andrew, do you have any thoughts on if the F1 Fan Lounge tickets are worth it? Looks like they include super gold grandstand seat, food and beverage for the weekend. We are looking at these for 2024. Thanks!

    1. I think these are a good deal. It’s the cheapest form of hospitality. Just the fact that you can get out of the hot sun and crazy fan areas for some airconditioning and respite makes them worth it. Be warned, they will sell out well in advance so I’d commit sooner rather than later
