How Much Does it Cost to Attend the 2024 Austrian Grand Prix?

Estimating the cost of race tickets, accommodation and spending money at the Red Bull Ring to attend the Formula 1 Austrian Grand Prix 2024

The Austrian Grand Prix sold some of the cheapest tickets on the calendar according to our ranking of 2023 F1 ticket prices. Unfortunately, strong demand and inflation have seen ticket prices have risen approx. 20% for 2024. It can still be affordable to spend the weekend at the Red Bull Ring, especially if you choose general admission tickets and trackside camping. However, prices can quickly add up for grandstand tickets, hire car and decent hotels in Graz or near the circuit. Nevertheless, with good organization and decent facilities, a trip to the Red Bull Ring still feels like good value.

Budget

  • Weekend cost €405 ($450 USD)
  • 3-day General Admission ticket = €135
  • Trackside camping for 3 nights (pitch only) = €120
  • Spending money (€50 x 3) = €150

Mid-Range

High End

Average costs are per person based on a stay of 3 nights with race tickets, accommodation and spending money. The budget does not include flights (or other travel costs) required to reach Austria.

About our categories: Budget fans buy the cheapest race tickets (General Admission) and camp by the track or stay in a hostel. Mid-Range fans buy a grandstand ticket and stay in a 3-star hotel, whilst High-End fans buy a trackside hospitality package and stay in a 4 or 5 star hotel.

I am cheap Charlie. I’m planning on camping at the trackside. How do you take a shower there? Will there be problems at the Vienna Airport if I don’t book a hotel in Vienna? I’m from Panama, but we don’t need any visa to get into Europe. I appreciate all the info, as I’m interested in attending the 2017 Austrian GP.

    1. Hi Daniel, don’t worry, I’m also a Cheap Charlie! If you buy camping tickets for the Red Bull Ring, then you will have access to showers and toilets. You won’t have a problem if you don’t book a hotel in Vienna. Enjoy the race!

  2. Hi!

I’ll be in Vienna on a placement at the same time as the GP, and I’m looking to attend the race day. This will be my first ever live GP, so I don’t know much about budgeting or what to expect!

How much would you advise to budget if I was looking at travelling from Vienna on race day and buying a general admission ticket? What should I expect in the hours before or after the race?

    Thanks!

    Charlie

    1. Hi Charlie, race-day General Admission tickets cost 85 EUR. It’s a fairly easy 2-hour drive from Vienna to Red Bull Ring on the motorway and trackside parking is free, so best would be to drive if you have a car. Otherwise, you can take the train but I suggest buying tickets now as they get more expensive closer to the race. Try and make a day of it; there are several support races on earlier in the day. The race finishes around 5pm and that’s the last thing happening. Check Trackside more info.

  3. Dear Andrew,

I can see a significant difference in tickets rates between ‘General Admission ticket’ and ‘Grand stand’. Is it really worth buying the Grand stand ticket compared to general one.

This is my first live Grand pri. I would really like to view the cars closer and experience the Formula 1 car sound.

    Many thanks in advance.

    1. Honestly Akhil, just take the General Admission and wear some comfortable shoes. You will find lots of good vantage spots at the Red Bull Ring. Walk around and explore!

    Hi Andrew
We will be staying in Graz and traveling by train to Red Bull Ring 28-30. I was wondering about the shuttle from the station to the ring. And also we have general admission tickets and I’m wondering where I can get camping chairs to sit on. Any recommendations?
    Thanks

    1. Hi Elizabeth, I don’t have any further information about the shuttle from the train station to the track – but don’t worry. The Austrian GP is very well organized and I’m sure you won’t have any problems getting to the track. As for camping chairs, I suggest you visit a shopping centre in Graz before you head to the track.

Thank you for this Andrew, greatly helpful. I was wondering if it is known how TV screens will be setup for the General Admission area. I looked at pictures from previous Grand Prix and saw the multiple TV screens were setup. However, the Stage Plan at the bottom of this page, https://www.projekt-spielberg.com/en/formula-1/tickets, shows only one TV.

Do you know more about this? Thank you in advance!

  6. Hi. My friend and I will be at the race for the whole weekend and we have tickets for the grass area at turn 3. Is there places where we could preferably rent or buy some camping chairs?

  7. Hi. We have weekend tickets for Red Bull A. We were wondering if we’d still be able to walk the circuit in the general admission areas for different view points during Saturday?

    1. Yes, you sure can! The General Admission areas are open the whole weekend. Good views at the top of the circuit. I also like the small section on the approach to the final corner – the cars are right on the edge there!

  8. Is the F1 experiences worth the extra money?? Planning to make this race our first F1 race. We will probably rent a camper and camp out at the track. The cost is significantly higher with the package but I like the idea of getting a more immersive experience but the price is really high in comparison to just tickets alone. Is it worth it to do the package or should we just figure it out on our own.

    1. Hi Tobi, in my opinion it is worth it. But you should know that I have been working for F1 Experiences for more than 3 years, so I’m a bit biased. This year has been hard with the COVID restrictions, as many of the best activities are prevented from happening. But if everything is back to normal next year, then I think it’s worth the extra expense. Let me know what package you are considering? I’m happy to answer your questions and give more advice. Andrew

  9. Hi andrew,
We are a family of 5 (2 kids and 3 adults), this would be our first grand prix, do you recommend buying the general admission? We have never been to Austria and don’t know a lot of what kinds of tickets would be the best for us
    Thank u

    1. Hi Amanda, General Admission at the Red Bull Ring is very good – excellent panoramic views from up on the hill at the top of the circuit. But remember these areas will get busier as the weekend goes on, and it can get overcrowded on race day. If you don’t mind not having your own reserved seats, go for it. Prices are also really good – and cheaper when you buy before the end of this year.

  10. HI.
I’d like to prepare in advance for ticket purchase this summer ( i guess the tixs will be on sale right after the race? ) and would like to know how much are start/finish grandstand tickets for austrian GP?

    Thanks in advance!

    1. Not sure if tickets for the 2023 Austrian GP will go on sale straight after the race, but they do normally go on sale soon after. Remember as well that ticket prices are normally reduced by 20% until the end of the year. I don’t have the copy of 2022 prices to hand right now, and it depends on which section, but Start/Finish grandstand tickets are approximately 400-500 EUR (before the discount I mentioned).

  11. Hey there,

Just purchased tickets for 2023, my first grand prix! I’m curious what you recommend as far as timeline for purchasing flights, hotels, etc. How far out from the race should I be taking care of that?

    1. The dates are not 100% confirmed, but unlikely to change. I would definitely be looking to reserve accommodation now, as it’s hard to find near the Red Bull Ring. But make sure it’s refundable in the unlikely event that dates change. Not sure where you will be flying from, but probably you can wait a few months to book flights.

  12. Hi, do you know if one day tickets will be available for purchase for the Austrian Grand Prix? Specifically grandstand tickets for the Sunday. If so, when do they become available?
