The Monaco Grand Prix is, arguably, Formula 1’s most famous event. Seeing it live is on the bucket list for many motorsport enthusiasts. The sport has visited Monaco in almost every season since the first year of the modern championship in 1950 and, while the buildings have multiplied and the track has undergone minor changes, the essence of tight street racing between the barriers has remained the same.

The 2023 Monaco Grand Prix was set to be the seventh round of the season until last Wednesday, when the 2023 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix was cancelled due to flooding around the Imola track. Despite concerns that F1 would find itself with freight stuck near Imola due to the extreme weather, the sport has been able to make its way safely to Monaco.

While the events of the last week will have no impact on the 2023 Monaco Grand Prix, something that may be a recurring theme is wet weather. Early forecasts suggest a wet weekend is in store at Monaco in 2023, much like Sunday in Monte Carlo last year. We recommend packing a waterproof jacket, just in case!

2023 Monaco Grand Prix tickets still available

Most tickets for the 2023 Monaco Grand Prix have now sold out, though a limited number remain available in our ticket shop. Ticket packages for the 2023 Monaco Grand Prix from Formula 1’s official ticket package partner, F1 Experiences, are also still on sale.

Official attendance figures for the Monaco Grand Prix have not been released since 2017 but it is believed that the weekend attendance is somewhere around the 200,000 mark. Last year, the number of people arriving into Monaco by train increased by 10,000 compared to the last fully-attended race at Circuit de Monaco in 2019. If you have General Admission tickets, we recommend arriving early in order to secure the best viewing spots.

How much will I spend on a visit to the 2023 Monaco Grand Prix?

The 2023 Monaco Grand Prix is the first of three events held as part of the latest contract extension between Formula 1 race and race organisers. Ticket prices in Monaco have risen by around 30% in recent years. However, while the event used to be the most expensive to attend of the season, ticket prices at the new American races in Miami and Las Vegas have seen the principality’s race slip down the list of F1’s most expensive weekends.

We estimate that the average fan will spend around €1,500 on a trip to the 2023 Monaco Grand Prix. That includes three day grandstand tickets, a three night stay in a hotel in Nice, plus spending money. Check out our Budget Planner for the lowdown on what you can expect to spend on a trip to the Monaco Grand Prix.

Trackside at the 2023 Monaco Grand Prix

Last year, in a break from tradition, the Monaco Grand Prix fell into line with the other races on the calendar by holding its opening Formula 1 practice sessions on Friday instead of Thursday. That will be the case again at the 2023 Monaco Grand Prix, though there will be practice sessions for support races on Thursday.

Formula 3 joins the series which will be racing at the Monaco Grand Prix in 2023. It’s the first time that the third rung of Formula 1’s junior ladder has raced on the streets of the principality since 2012. Formula 2 and Porsche Supercup are the other support categories on offer this year and both promise to bring as much drama as they have in previous years!

The fanzone will host on-stage interviews with the F1 drivers on Friday afternoon and it’s always worth sticking around on an evening at the circuit too, as you’ll see the track transformed into a party scene! You can find all the vital information about watching the race, including session times and access points, on our updated Trackside page.

Off track at the 2023 Monaco Grand Prix

Whether you’re lucky enough to be staying within Monaco, in nearby Nice or one of the other neighbouring areas, there’ll be plenty to enjoy away from the track during your trip to the 2023 Monaco Grand Prix.

We’ve rounded up the best places to visit – including Prince Rainier’s car collection, Monte Carlo’s iconic casino and Nice’s expansive beaches – in Off-Track Activities.
